Listened to Hustle for Pride, and MAN, would I hate to do that in band. *shudders*
Mr. Passion was a good musical based boss.
Lord Passion is an AWESOME musical based boss.
This guy plays like Mr. Passion, but better. He can paralyze a party member and/or reduce a party member to tears as well as the other attacks Mr. Passion had. Not only that, he'll throw everything but the kitchen sink much more frequently, and it'll damage all of your party.
The battle music is what really sets it off, though. Ode To Ancestors, 8th Movement is FANTASTIC.
Too bad he barely missed the Top 5...
The instant I saw this boss, I knew it was gonna be epic.
Look at that. LOOK. AT. THAT. And the Natural Killer Cyborg's appearance is just the tip of the iceberg.
First off, this battle can be incredibly difficult. Natural Killer Cyborg has the most health of any boss in the game(excluding the King Statue), deals massive damage even with shields/counters up(assuming you didn't lower his offense), and can deal a large amount of damage with his signature move, End of the Century Beam.
PK Ground wrecks this boss in a few turns, but why would you want that? Fight it the hard way. It's amazingly fun, especially with the battle music, which is not only my third favorite theme in the game, but it resembles Z.Z.Top's "Sharp Dressed Man". (It's the theme song of this show called Duck Dynasty, for those who don't know.)
I'm not exactly sure how these three statues move, but the Barrier Trio has a very creative fight.
Basically, the Barrier Trio will strike a Barrier Pose, which looks like this:
This determines the statue's weakness. They're immune to any other PSI aside from their weakness, so be careful. After you hit the statue enough times with its weakness, it'll drop its Barrier Pose. But be warned...
If it drops its Barrier Pose without you attacking it, that's a warning. If it concentrates, that's a very serious warning, because next turn it's gonna use PK Starstorm and possibly obliterate the party! However, this is good. Wait just a little bit longer and you'll get an easy victory.
By the way, this boss has the best death in the whole game.
"Exhausted, the Barrier Trio struck one final Barrier Pose!"
"It was spectacular."
*Cue death sequence*
You know what, I take back what I said about Reconstructed Caribou. I would have been perfectly fine if it didn't exist.
Why? Cause this would have been the first boss.
Oh, yeah. The Mecha-Drago fight is awesome.
First off, this fight has a TON of emotion behind it. This thing killed Flint's wife, and later on, Claus. (Sorta...) So now it's time to strike back.
Mecha-Drago will be pretty much impossible to beat if you don't use the Drago Fang to pierce its armor. From here, it's one big endurance round. Mecha-Drago can stomp on you, bite, and breathe fire. Alec'll help by healing you sometimes, but be warned, he can only do it three times. (I think.)
And the music, Fight With Mecha-Drago, is amazing. If this was the first boss, I would have no problem calling it my favorite first boss.
But... we still have two more...
He caused the Mecha-Drago to kill Lucas's mom and brother.
He pretty much wants to destroy the world for a quick laugh.
He reconstructed your brother as a terrifying cyborg.
And now it's time to finally kick his a** in one of the most satisfying fights I've ever played!
Oh, wow, where do I begin with this fight? First off, Porky's new mech looks awesome.
As for the fight itself, Porky's a tough boss. He can cough something up, which'll lower the offense and defense of ALL your party members. He can also do inexplicable attacks, which have a variety of effects, such as damaging your party members 3 times, making your entire party cry, or paralyzing one party member.
As he gets lower on health, Porky's inexplicable attacks will start doing massive damage, at first to one of your party members and then to all of them. Multiple times. You know you've won when Porky's bed mech breaks down.
At this point, Porky decides he's done screwing around and hides in the Absolutely Safe Capsule.
However, while he may be absolutely safe, the rest of the world is absolutely safe from him. So, yeah. He's stuck.
The final thing I should mention is the battle music, Master Porky's Theme. This EASILY would warrant an Awesome Video Game Music. (I need to reboot that sometime...)
And the best part?
This isn't #1.
By process of elimination, if you've played Mother 3, you've probably figured out what #1 is.
And that boss...
Yep, he's back. Masked Man's second fight, the final fight in the game, completely makes up for the crappy first fight.
First off, THAT MUSIC.
Second off, the battle itself. You can't even win! Basically, for the first turns of the fight, Lucas can't attack. The Masked Man can and will. However, at some point, a voice will start calling out... The voice of Lucas's dead mother, Hinawa.
Hinawa will beg Masked Man, aka Claus, to stop fighting. Masked Man doesn't listen and prepares to fire off PK Love Omega... only for your father Flint to jump in front of it and take serious damage. Now you can attack, but Lucas will cry as he does so.
Masked Man will eventually come to his senses and take off his mask.
His face looked just like Lucas's.
It was Claus.
With that, Claus fires a lightning bolt at Lucas. The Franklin Badge reflects it, and kills Claus. In other words, he commits child suicide. I'm not making this up! This is really what happens.
Claus gives his final breath... and the ending of Mother 3 ensues. Not going to say it here.
This fight has it all. Except challenge, but I can look past that. It's heartwrenching, memorable, and probably more adjectives I could think of.
By the way, next countdown is Top 10 Mother 3 Battle Themes. It's Mother 3 Month!
