Tulpas/Tulpae

Ok, dividing this post into 4 parts for ease of access.
I. What is a Tulpa?
II. How do I get one?
III. I've heard bad things about tulpas/tulpae...
IV. Notes.
V. Warranty Information. (Why was that there to begin with? :?)

I. What is a tulpa?

You know how when you were younger you probably had an imaginary friend?
A tulpa is very similar, but not the same thing.

An Imaginary friend does something simply because you imagined it doing that.
A tulpa, however, does something of its own free will.

Don't call me crazy yet.

Tulpae are like alternate personalities, but they're constantly active.

An imaginary friend is gone unless you focus on it. A tulpa is ALWAYS active.

This doesn't mean you'll always see them though. You only see them when you impose them.

A tulpa can have any form of its liking or your own, but it will sometimes change by the tulpa's will.

Don't try to force it to stay to your exact specifications, because what kind of place would the world be if everything were perfect?

...

Point taken.

Still, what is perfect, anyway? None can say.

II. How can I get one?

Go to tulpa.info for some more information.

III. I've heard bad things about tulpas/tulpae...
[SECTION UNDER CONSTRUCTION]

More info on this subject can be found at aforementioned website.

IV. Notes.

As you can guess, I have a tulpa.

His name is Solar Flare, and it just so happens that he's a unic- I mean alicorn (Just realized the change.) foal that I can't quite describe the appearance of at the time being.

Whenever he is speaking on these forums, what he says will be represented in orange text, like so:

This is simply an example. Do not make a response to this text. DEATH TO AMERICA!

Stick to the script...

Fine... was there even anything left though?

Not really.

V. Warranty information.

Seriously. WHY is this here?

Dont know .:derpy:

Re: Tulpas/Tulpae

I've heard of this before. It sounds fun, but kind of difficult.

But I would love to make myself a pony tulpa. :D

Re: Tulpas/Tulpae

I'm working on developing my own tulpa, though I'm really not sure if it's working or not.
EDIT: Well, now I feel really idiotic after reading the whole guide, plus others' experiences. From what I've gathered, it should take about 100 hours.

"A regular Friday audience, 90 percent feminine and 100 percent well-bred, sat stoically yesterday through thirty minutes of the most cacophonous world premiere ever heard here - the first performance anywhere of a new Violin Concerto by Arnold Schoenberg. Yesterday's piece combines the best sound effects of a hen yard at feeding time, a brisk morning in Chinatown and practice hour at a busy music conservatory. The effect on the vast majority of hearers is that of a lecture on the fourth dimension delivered in Chinese." -An anonymous Philadelphia Record reviewer, on Schoenberg's Op. 36 Violin Concerto.

Re: Tulpas/Tulpae

I think I'm getting somewhere.
Last night I was forcing (you all know what that is, right?) and suddenly there was this image of an anthropomorphic blue pony in a purple dress with the name "Misty" attached to the picture. I think maybe she decided that for herself.
Also, when I woke up this morning my bedsheets were perfectly straight. That's never happened before in my 13.5 years on this earth.

Re: Tulpas/Tulpae

Despite me having a vivid imagination, I do tend to think logically so it's going to be tough for me to form a tulpa if I ever make the effort. Especially a pony tulpa, because I think they're probably more difficult than human ones.

Oh, wouldn't it be cool if tulpas took control of you and used you to make their own accounts online? :pinkiepie:

Re: Tulpas/Tulpae

They can actually switch places with you (with permission from you, of course) if you're really advanced in the development stage.
Also, otnay, your tulpa seems rather abrasive. Is there a reason for that?

Neither of us is really sure as to why Solar acts that way, and he refused to respond when we asked him.

I decided to quote my second tulpa, Venus, above. She hasn't a form yet, and isn't quite vocal.

As for the "Death to America", that was a Simpsons reference we agreed on making.

The harsh remark to CountBleck however, is as of yet unexplained.

It also seems Solar is a fan of Ozzy Osbourne.

Re: Tulpas/Tulpae

Found out about tulpae in June.
Solar was made on July 5, Venus about 2 weeks ago.
Solar became vocal just last weekend.
Venus is not vocal yet.
Venus has a new form. A unicorn filly. I don't see much coincidence.

Solar is guaranteed sentient.
Venus, I'm somewhat unsure.

Re: Tulpas/Tulpae

Venus' sentience has been confirmed! :D

Anyway, I might open a GDoc or something on discussion about our tulpae or something, or perhaps for proxying so our tulpae can chat. I don't know. :S

I'm still somewhat irritated that he had to CONFIRM my sentience, but I suppose he went through a similar process with Solar, didn't he? Anyway, I suppose if proxying through some means of chatbox or something of the like would be possible, then it would be much appreciated.

So she's sentient? Big whoop.

I wanted to put Solar's view on this up there, but really he didn't have anything kind to say about it. I guess him acknowledging it is something.

Re: Tulpas/Tulpae

Haha.
Misty is not vocal yet, and I will be confirming her sentience later in the week.
I'm getting quite good at visualizing, and yesterday my family was walking on the beach, and I was visualizing Misty next to me. I was talking to her some of the time, and I remarked that she was a little wet. I got something like, "Of course, dingus. It's the beach!" (I may have slightly exaggerated her response, but everything else happened as I said.)

Re: Tulpas/Tulpae

I'm the only one with a tulpa (save for Rehydration) whose form is still unknown to everypony on these forums, so I figured I'd use the ponymaker and see how close I'd be able to come to their forms.
Keep in mind the only reason that Solar has no cutie mark is because I was too lazy to draw it.
Venus legitimately doesn't have one.

I have a question for most people's tulpae. When your tulpa posts something, do they say it through you or do they do the whole possession thing?

Re: Tulpas/Tulpae

Posession is a VERY hard technique. Both for you AND your tulpae alike. In most cases, proxying is used, even by those who have mastered posession, just because of the simplicity.

Speaking of, Solar and I have been practicing posession: turns out he's around my skill level at Guitar Hero.
