After months of silence and a dead countdown, I finally make a new one!
Super Paper Mario: A game that has a habit of being enjoyable(Cragnon), rarely not so enjoyable(The Overthere), and, at times, rather disturbing(Mimi). What really set this game off is the storyline, but the boss battles play a big part too. In fact, I'm going to be doing them from worst to best. I won't be including optional bosses like Shadoo or Wracktail.
WARNING: Massive spoilers for Super Paper Mario.
I do NOT know why people don't talk about this more often.
Bonechill combines EVERYTHING that is horrible about boss battles.
Let's start with Bonechill himself. Bonechill is basically the Mario version of Necron - comes out of nowhere. He was never mentioned anywhere prior. Plus, after you beat him, he's never mentioned again.
Also, as for the fight itself... wow. Bonechill can be defeated in as little as forty seconds by chucking icicles at him with Thoreau. And that's the hard way.
The easy way is to use Luigi's super jump, where you can kill him in ten seconds flat without getting hit.
And even with the hard way, Bonechill's attacks are incredibly easy to dodge. And the fact that he was built up by one of the most ANNOYING levels in the game makes him even worse.
And his music... I really hate it. It doesn't fit with the fight AT ALL, and is not intimidating.
Bonechill does look cool, though. That's pretty much his only redeeming factor.

Hopefully Underchomp isn't too low on here. I understand there wasn't anything too special about him, but he was still cool.
The Big Blooper is... just... broken. And I don't mean good broken.
The fight is REALLY easy, but takes long due to how hard it is to hit the blooper's OBVIOUS weak spot. Even if Barry, a Pixl, didn't tell you, you'll still be able to figure it out!
It was technically built up if you talk to Barry, however. That makes it better than Bonechill.
King Croacus is odd for a boss fight. His fight really... really... sucks. However, the character himself is pretty cool.
The fight is so easy that it's insane. There is one problem: The hitbox on the weights he swings at you is way too big.
Speaking of insane, King Croacus went insane from drinking polluted water. So in the end, the fight was pointless because King Croacus wasn't TRYING to be evil.
The character himself in the postgame is actually very likeable, though, due to how he jokes around and acts honorable.
This really didn't need to be bumped.
Brobot is the Super Paper Mario equivalent of Magnus von Grapple from Thousand-Year Door.
Anyways, before fighting this boss, which has more HP than the final boss(I'll get to that in a moment), you have to fight Luigi - er, I mean Mr. L.
No, seriously. That's obviously Luigi.
Anyways, the fight's easy. "Mr. L" will use Shroom Shakes to heal, but if you hit him with Thoreau, you'll steal them. This strategy works against an optional boss, Shadoo.
After that, Mr. L hops in Brobot and then you go into
to battle him. He has more HP than the final boss because you can deal lots of damage to him with Squirps, especially with powerups. It's ridiculously easy, but what puts him higher than the others is the concept.
I mean, you are FIGHTING A FREAKING ROBOT WITH A LASER GUN IN SPACE!
Anyways, you fight Brobot again, which brings me to...
Somehow, Brobot Type L's HP has... lowered.
It's like the Mad Hat from Wario.
Anyways, Brobot Type L is hard one way, easy the other. Easy way is to use Boomer for his boots.
Hard way is to jump on his nose, where he hardly takes any damage. He can suck you up with a vacuum and crush you with his... teeth? ... so be careful.
Brobot Type L is higher than Brobot because the battle was harder even with Boomer.
Plus, Brobot Type L has even more similarities to Magnus von Grapple because of rocket fists!
It's time to talk about the main villain, Count Bleck. The Count has 3(or 4, if you count Mr. L) minions: O'Chunks, the brawny idiot; Dimentio, the demented jester; and the one on this spot, Mimi.
The Mimi battle - the second one - is as HARD AS HECK. Mimi has HP equivalent to the first boss, but that won't change the trouble you'll have. She shoots Rubees at you with deadly accuracy, and her Rubee barrier sometimes deflects things you have to throw at her. Plus, she moves pretty fast, AND she can flip to 3D.
Just listen to this battle music, too!
Gameplay wise, there is really nothing special about the Underchomp. It's fairly easy to defeat, it's a more powerful version of a normal enemy, and... honestly, it really serves no purpose.
There's nothing much to say other than YOU FIGHT THIS BOSS IN AN EARTHBOUND STYLE. Seriously! They have options for EVERYTHING!
"Bowser breathes fire! The flames have no effect on the Underchomp!"
"[Player] uses Dashell! [Player] dashes quickly! ... but nothing else happens."
"[Player] uses Carrie! You feel a little taller! ... that is the only effect, unfortunately."
For those who haven't played Earthbound, it's a turn based RPG type of deal - you select your actions, then attack. Then the Underchomp strikes back.
This reminds me, what happened to NaF's Top 15 Paper Mario Bosses?
Anyways, spoiler alert: Francis was going to be 14. Hey, he's 14 now!
Francis is easy, but it's the character himself that cracks me up. He's me, but a chameleon - complete geek. Plus, his stage is fairly challenging.
"Wha-What do I... Oh man... A REAL girl in my room! This is so hi-technicaaaal!"
Did I mention the cutscene before the fight?
You can only enter Francis's room as Peach, where Francis starts freaking out. He then boots up "Swoon.exe". Francis will choose options from a screen, and you can have Peach reply in three different ways. Heck, Peach even breaks the fourth wall!
"Who's picking these responses for me, anyway?!"

This... is a bit of a letdown for the final boss. Super Dimentio is fairly easy. However, it's the cutscene before the battle that puts it high.
Basically, the main villain, Count Bleck, is attacked by Dimentio after beating the Count. However, one of his minions who you never fight, Nastasia, takes the blow.
Dimentio reveals his true plan to overthrow the Count and then takes control of Luigi. He then merges Luigi, the Chaos Heart, and himself to become Super Dimentio.
Super Dimentio is easy with Slim, who dodges all of his attacks and gives you plenty of time to counterattack, as there is no time limit. And then... the music, The Ultimate Show, is my third favorite theme in Super Paper Mario. I'll get to the other two later.
