We have all gathered together to take a series of tests. (By we I mean us. This is a self-insert.) We are all in separate sessions for the first couple of tests. But we eventually meet, and then a journey spirals outward.

It was twelve thirty. I was preparing to take the test at a building called the Monk Building at 1:00. I was sitting on the steps.
It started with a newspaper article that said "Are you a gifted child looking for special opportunities"? Naturally, I was interested, especially since it addressed the children, not the parents. I brought my guitar, which happened to contain a bunch of things inside it.
Unfortunately, the article didn't say where the Monk Building was. I had to get directions from a bus driver who tried to cheat me into paying for it.

1:00 struck.
I entered the building. (NOTE: We all have the same questions on our tests. We're not all in the same session, however.)
I entered the room labeled "Test 1". That was where I was told to go.
No one was there, but an empty desk with a test was there. I sat down and began.
First question was "Do you like to watch television?" I put down NO.
Offline
I walked in through the doors, looking left and right for any indication of the room "Test 4".
I sat down at the desk in the room, wrote my name on the sheet, and answered the first question with a YES.
Offline
The second question was "Do you like to listen to the radio?" Again, I put down NO.
Offline
Thinking that OCCASIONALLY wouldn't fly, I wrote down NO on the next question.
Offline
The next question was, "What is wrong with this statement?" I chuckled. Then I wrote, "It isn't a statement at all. It's a question."
Offline
I was stumped. I scratched my head furiously, but couldn't think of anything. I shrugged and wrote, "NO U".
Offline
The next question had a picture of a chess board. All pieces were unmoved, except for a black pawn, which was two spaces ahead.
"According to the rules of chess, is this position possible?"
I thought about it, and then wrote down my answer. (What, do you think I'll tell you?)
Offline
I wrote down my answer too. (I'm pretty sure we have the same answer for this one.)
Offline
The final question was, "Are you brave?"
I had no idea how to answer. I just wrote down "I hope so."

Thinking hard, I wrote down YES. "I just love a good self-promotion," I said to myself.

At the front of the room was a woman with a yellow suit. She looked like a giant walking pencil.
"Pencils!" the woman barked, as if she had read my thoughts.
I put down my pencil. The woman collected the tests. "I'll be right back." She left the room, presumably collecting from the other rooms.
Offline
I slid the paper to the front of my desk.
Offline
After the pencil woman had collected the papers, she went to Splat's room and announced, "Here are the people who are advancing to the next level. If I call your name, stand up, and when I leave, go upstairs and wait."
"James [last name]!" she called.
She then left the room, adding, "That is all."
Offline
I stood up, and climbed the stairs (I hope there are stairs) to the next floor. Then I stood there, waiting.
Offline
I climbed the stairs, noticing James. I was randomly lugging around my guitar.
"I take it you're the only one who advanced from your session?" I asked.
Offline
"I...guess so. If people from my session managed to follow me here without me noticing--" I looked from side to side, and not seeing anyone, continued: "--Then I'd need to have a talk with them."
Offline
"So, what's your name? Mine's Chris," I said, holding out a hand and setting my guitar down to the side.
Offline
"James," I said, shaking his hand. "And you're the only one from your session?"
Offline
"Yeah," I replied. I took my guitar and started playing a slow version of the beginning of Black Widow of La Porte.
